Today is the day.

After years of living this story, a year and a half of writing it, and countless moments of wondering if I should really put it all on paper, I can finally say it:

My memoir is officially here. 💜

Today, September 5th, It’s All In Your Head: Enduring Pain, Embracing Christ: Living with Chiari Malformation is officially available.

And honestly, it feels a little surreal.

For years, my story was something I was simply living. It was the headaches, the dizziness, the fatigue, the unanswered questions, the appointments, the diagnosis, the surgery, the recovery, and all of the emotions that came with living with something most people couldn't see.

Now, that same story is sitting between the pages of a book.

And I get to share it with you.

Why I Wrote This Book

I didn't write this memoir because I have everything figured out.

I wrote it because I know what it feels like to wonder if anyone understands.

I know what it feels like to live with pain that isn't always visible.

I know what it feels like to wait for answers.

I know what it feels like to question what God is doing when the road you're walking isn't the one you would have chosen.

And I know what it feels like to discover that faith doesn't mean you will never struggle. It means you don't have to struggle alone.

There were moments throughout my journey when I felt frustrated, discouraged, afraid, and exhausted.

There were moments when I asked God why.

But there were also moments when I saw His faithfulness in ways I never expected.

This book is my story of both.

The pain and the hope.

The questions and the faith.

The diagnosis and the healing.

The moments I wanted to give up and the moments God reminded me to keep going.

A Story for More Than Just People With Chiari

While this book is rooted in my experience with Chiari Malformation, I didn't write it only for people with Chiari.

I wrote it for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood.

For anyone living with an invisible illness.

For the person who is tired of explaining why they're tired.

For the family member who wants to understand what their loved one is going through.

For the friend who doesn't know what to say.

For the person sitting in a season of uncertainty, wondering when the waiting will end.

And for anyone who needs a reminder that God can still be present in the middle of a story that doesn't make sense.

To Everyone Who Helped Me Get Here

This book may have my name on the cover, but I didn't get here alone.

There are so many people who walked beside me through this journey—my family, friends, doctors, nurses, people who encouraged me, people who prayed for me, and people who simply showed up when I needed them.

There are also people who helped bring these words from a manuscript to a finished book.

To every person who believed in me, encouraged me, prayed for me, read a draft, helped edit, formatted, designed, promoted, or simply told me, “You should write your story,” thank you.

You are part of this story too.

And Now, It's Yours to Read

For so long, these experiences lived in my head.

Then they lived in notebooks and Word documents.

Now they live inside a book.

And today, I get to place that book into your hands.

I don't know exactly where this book will end up or whose hands will hold it.

But I have a prayer for every person who reads it:

That you feel less alone.

That you find hope in the waiting.

That you find strength when you're tired.

That you feel seen when you feel misunderstood.

And that, somewhere in these pages, you are reminded that God has not forgotten you.

Your story may look nothing like mine.

But I hope you find a little piece of yourself in these pages anyway
